Welcome, everyone!
My name is Shelby, and I will be your tour guide. . . Only kidding!! This blog was created for different assignments relating to courses I am currently taking at Sam Houston State University as I work towards my Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS).
I’ve been a teacher and coach (swimming and water polo) in the Houston area for the last six years, and this year I was offered the chance at a wonderful position as the Teacher-Librarian at a high school in Spring Branch ISD. I have truly loved every minute of my new position since starting. I am also recently married (we hit the one year mark in August).
I received my undergrad degree from Arizona State University in 2006 (Fork ‘Em), and I decided to stay in Arizona for four years after graduation to work in the corporate world. It was not for me. Education is in my blood (over half of my family are teachers), and I felt like I was at home when I started in the classroom.
I have always been a reader, and when your mother is an English teacher, it goes with the territory. These days when I’m not working, I can often be found working out at my local CrossFit gym, trying one of the many new restaurants that are always popping up in Houston, enjoying a good book, or playing with our Goldendoodle named Aussie.
